Repetition of Righteousness: Spiritual Boot Camp
Military boot camp prepares a people to go to war through repetition of hearing and obedience, so that the soldier is immediate and complete in their actions; it becomes second nature to them. Spiritual boot camp prepares a people to hear and do: where is your spiritual obedience? Years ago God gave me a dream where He spoke to me “Repetition of Righteousness”, and in my dream there was such an indescribable depth of joy and peace in His blessing that rejoicing and worship for the promise flowed. After waking the thought was that the phrase must not have been remembered correctly, since it was not remembered from scripture. God has been sought many times to renew that dream, and God is answering. Your spiritual boot camp, your spiritual preparation, is in repetition of righteousness, hearing and doing, hearing and doing, hearing and doing. There can be no stopping to feed your flesh, or be complacent. The cadence of military boot camp is your left, right, left, right. In spiritual boot camp our cadence is do right, do right, do right, do right, as we hear God and obey. As God repeats some of the same scriptures to you over and over again in these exhortations it is to establish you in His righteousness; the scriptures often add to the prior truths and purpose;
II Timothy 3:16, 17 All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works.
In your daily walk receive the scriptures again as preparing you; the Repetition of Righteousness. Look in each scripture for additional truth and God will reveal more truth as you become better established and prepared to bear it.
Military boot camp breaks the will of the men and teaches them to obey, that they might work as a unit. God also commands an order of things where our flesh is subdued and Jesus is given complete preeminence, rule, and reign, that in him may all fulness dwell (Colossians 1:18, 19 above). Your ability to walk in the control of God is in finding obedience to His commands, and He is the enabler if you will volunteer to be a soldier and let Him bring you through boot camp. God always has a prepared remnant, as He told Elijah;
I Kings 19:18 Yet I have left me seven thousand in Israel, all the knees which have not bowed unto Baal, and every mouth which hath not kissed him.
These seven thousand did not overcome by their own random act and will, but the word says they were kept and established by God … I have left me … These seven thousand were committed to Almighty God through His preeminence and control. They did not change the world only because they did not have the Holy Ghost to lead and guide. What is our excuse? In Romans 11, after speaking of the seven thousand, Paul says Even so then at this present time also there is a remnant according to the election of grace. Let Him lead you through spiritual boot camp.
In these last days God is again desiring to prepare a people, and for us to be established under His control;
Hebrews 8:10 For this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, saith the Lord; I will put my laws into their mind, and write them in their hearts: and I will be to them a God, and they shall be to me a people:
Please note in these scriptures that it is with God’s laws in their mind and heart that they will be to Him a people. It is in that place where we can love God and accept His will and purpose;
Romans 8:28 And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.
Please note in this verse that it does not say that all things work for good to everyone, but to those who love God, and will receive His calling! Verses 29 and 30 then discuss the predestination, and calling, and justifying, and glorifying of those that God foreknew. We then come to the results of the control and refuge of God Almighty;
Romans 8:31 What shall we then say to these things? If God be for us, who can be against us?
It is here, being of God, and in the will, and purpose, and refuge of God, that we can overcome every persecution and attack of the enemy, knowing that God is greater than anything we face;
I John 4:4 Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world.
Receive in heart the knowledge of the calling and purpose of God; come out of the world and things of the flesh, and desire to walk therein, that you might also receive the refuge and control of Almighty God! The preparation of military boot camp does not start with a marathon run, but with calisthenics and jogging. Let us begin spiritual boot camp with some spiritual calisthenics, and seek the knowledge of God.
